Theorize This!

Genesis 3:1-5
New Living Translation (NLT)

The Man and Woman Sin

3 The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”

2 “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. 3 “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”

4 “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. 5 “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”

Bleary Theory

A theory is a theory
But a law is something more
A theory is a “maybe”
A law is a “for sure”

So when you hear the “experts” crow
And spout a lot of guff
Ask them where they left their facts
And loudly call their buff

Since time began we’ve heard their lies
It started in that garden paradise
When Lucifer deceived mankind
With words that did entice

So hold onto the laws that count
That are proven right or wrong
They’ll help you make the most of life
And will not string you along

Elegance of Design

Genesis 2:7
New Living Translation (NLT)

7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.

Elegant Design

We marvel at the human body
It’s quite elegant indeed
On all the wonderful things it does
We most surely must agree

But have you ever pondered
Just where it all began
When God took a pile of merely dirt
Which He fashioned with His hand

And there before the waiting world
Was Adam, the first man
Then with a holy breath from God
He walked and talked and ran

So many things go on inside
It’s impossible to discern
Chemicals and electrons whirl about
Their purposes we may never fully learn

So while we are truly marvelous
And surely an intelligent design
We cannot take a drop of credit
For we are molded by the divine

You have awesomely formed us from meager beginnings, help us to realize our true worth and value…Jesus died for us while we were yet sinners.

Thank You, Lord!

The Joke’s On Us

Galatians 6:7-10
New International Version (NIV)

7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

How Jolly?

How jolly can you be
When all that you can see

Is pain, death, and destruction
All paid for by corruption

Whether in a land far away
Or the hood you walk everyday

How happy can you become
When they tell you to overcome

But the rent goes up every year
And we live in mortal fear

While the kitchen cabinets are bare
Cause there’s never enough food in there

How much hope can fill our hearts
When the schools are just a farce

And what we learn is of no real import
So it will not take us to where they purport

Therefore we are left dangling like a leaf
In the wind of reality without relief

So when we become full of deceit
And you by some small chance might meet

One of us on a dark and lonely avenue
And you wonder what we might do

Don’t give it a thought
Or become overwrought

Just remember to go with the flow
Cause we all must reap what we sow

Your mercy is great and Your patience is long. Be with us and open up our hearts and minds to those who need our help. Let us be blessed with wisdom as to how best help those in need.

Thank You, Lord!

Get Snowed

Matthew 18:2-4
New Living Translation (NLT)

2 Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. 3 Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. 4 So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Angels in a Three-Piece Suit

Bright white varnish, that covers everything
Making all that’s dirty
As new as flowers in the spring

Soft damp blanket, spread over winter’s scene
Chilling the human form
With winds both fierce and mean

Childhood recalled, the thoughts that haunt the mind
Slaying the usual and mundane
So our inner child we find

Arms spread out wide, we sprawl before the crowd
Making snow angels in a three-piece suit
Our spirit’s free to laugh out loud

Give us hearts that seek only after You. That forsake this world. That long only to be conformed to Jesus.

Thank You, Lord!

Gorge-ous All Around

Psalm 19:1-4
New Living Translation (NLT)

1 The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
2 Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
3 They speak without a sound or word;
their voice is never heard.
4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
and their words to all the world.
God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.

Gorging on the Beauty

Gorge yourselves with wonder
Fill yourselves up with love
Take time to stop and ponder
All things that come from up above

The sky so blue
The stars so vast
The clouds of varied hue
When the sun sets at last

The rippling stream
The snowy trail
Lit up by golden moonbeams
The landscape to unveil

The forest green
The deserts bare
Both seen and unseen
God’s handiwork to declare

So ponder it all
It’s right there on display
His fingerprints are on everything
What more need He say?

We see You in all of creation from the smallest of molecules to vast galaxies above. Let us never lose our wonder and awe of You as seen in everything. Thank You, Lord!!

Reckoned Saintly by Love

Romans 3:23
New Living Translation (NLT)

23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard

Who is Saintly

God alone is good
All have sinned and fallen short
But Love picks us up

Thank You for being so loving. Although You are Holy, You reach down and carry us home.

Get Going!

John 14:1-3
New Living Translation (NLT)

14 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

In an Instant

On that day
In a not too far off time
We will hear the trumpet blast
And answer a call so sweet and divine

“Come up here!”
“And don’t be late”
“Come right now”
Don’t make the Groom wait”

And those of us
Who hear His voice
Will light our lamps
As our hearts rejoice

And in an instant
All the hurt and pain
Will be washed away
And only love will remain

For when Jesus comes to take us home
And to our Father’s house we relocate
It’s true we love this world so fair
But truer still that we can hardly wait

You have told that You would come for us in an instant and that we would be with You forever. Use us Lord to do Your will and to witness to all who must hear. We breathlessly await You. Come Lord Jesus, Come!!!

Don’t Wait

1 Peter 4:8
New Living Translation (NLT)

8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.

Patina of the Heart

The old kettle had sat there for years
In the field next to the old wooden shack
It’s copper glow long since gone
And hidden beneath a patina of black

He had bought it in town for his wife
Purchased over time from the general store
He placed it there that fateful night
A surprise left just outside the door

He broke into the room with a grin
Looking for his wife to be waiting there
Only to find after searching the house
She couldn’t be found anywhere

Then as he noticed there in the kitchen
A note on the table was all that she left
Simply saying that she could stand it no longer
Since their marriage of love was bereft

An old man now with years of pain built up
His heart like the kettle was tarnished and torn
He waited too long to express his love
And it left him heartbroken and forlorn

So just a little advice as you end each day
Be sure to hug and tell those that you love
How very much that it means to you
That they were sent to you from above

Bind us together in love. Keep us from petty anger and pride. May we always model ourselves after Jesus and live at peace with everyone.

Thank You, Lord!

Not So “Tenderhooks”

1 Peter 2:24
New Living Translation (NLT)

24 He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
you are healed.

Thank You, Lord Jesus…Come quickly!!! Amen!!!

Always Longing

Proverbs 21:26
New Living Translation (NLT)

26 Some people are always greedy for more,
but the godly love to give!

The Longing

Age is a curious thing
Over which we seem utterly confused
And no matter what the years might bring
We complain that we are being abused

When we are young, we long to be old
We want to drive big cars and be rich
But when we are old the glitter’s gone from the gold
And for a few more days we’d gladly switch

It’s our nature I guess to be envy filled
To long for what we do not possess
Oh what I would give to be completely instilled
With a spirit satisfied with much less

I wouldn’t need to have the biggest tv
In the finest house in the new neighborhood
No need to drive golf carts or huge atv’s
I’d walk with my family as often as I could

I’d try to slow down and take it all in
And appreciate all that life has to give
For there’s no better prize and no better win
Than to live the life you’ve been given to live

©2017 by William Pierce

Please keep me from the clutches of greed and envy. They are hard task-masters who are never satisfied and will never let you rest.
