No Need to Worry

“Thought I might go back to my writing roots today…a prayer for all”

Israel 525

Run and Hide

As a young man, David might have hidden among the caves of the Negev (pictured above), as King Saul pursued him. He probably thought as we do today that all the godly persons had gone away when he prayed this prayer :

Psalm 12:1
New Living Translation (NLT)

1 Help, O Lord, for the godly are fast disappearing!
The faithful have vanished from the earth!

Father,

Though the world is dark and there doesn’t seem to be many people who can discern the truth or who desire to live a righteous life, You are still here among us. Though we were to climb the highest mountain or descend into the deepest cavern, You would be there with us. There is no distance or barrier that will keep us from Your love. You long to be with us and that is amazing!

Lord, there are many among us who have too little to eat. There are children and there are adults who for whatever reason are hungry today. Bless them with a meal. One that will fill their bellies and fill their spirits. Open doors that they might have a continuing source of provision. Open our hearts that we might be Your hands and feet.

There are those who are sick, Lord. They are struggling with cancers and crippling diseases. Some have mental issues and others fight to hang onto life as victims of violence. Please heal them everyone. Bless them with Your Presence and touch them with Your hands. Speak healing over them from heaven, for whatever You speak…is done. Thank You for loving us and sending Jesus. In His name, all things are possible.

Please bless our leaders. May they desire to serve You and those who elected them. May they be ethical leaders. Let Your words guide them in all that they do. May they see clearly what is best and good for this country and seek after it with all their might.

And finally, please bless each of us who read this prayer. Only You will know what we need and how to get it to us. It might be a job. It might be someone to love. Or just someone to listen. You know us better than we know ourselves. Grant us Your favor, it is better than talent, more valuable than gold. With it we are invincible! And please whisper to us always. It’s easy to feel lost in this world. Please keep guiding us home.

Thank You so very much! Amen!

Why Worry ?

It Rained Today

Matthew 6:27-30
New Living Translation (NLT)

27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?  28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

It Rained Today

The skies turned dark today
Full of rain the clouds were gray

And distant thunder was sure to remind
The lightening would not be far behind

All the while the wind ripped and roared
Soon the rain would begin to pour

Our lives play out as much the same
Troubles come and call our name

And we should do our very best
To go about as though unimpressed

The defense that seems best to use
Is to not worry, simply just refuse

We cannot change the storms that come around
But we can pick up faith and put worry down

Father,

Help me to lay down my troubles at Your feet, to turn loose of my worrying, and to pray!

Thank You, Lord!

Shhhhhhhhhhhh!

Silence

This week I’ll be taking some time off, so I’m posting some old prayers from my Mail Chimp Days. Hope you won’t mind?

Exodus 14:14

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Shhhhhhhhh.

Being silent. “That’s difficult since we all want to be noticed or praised.” I’m trying to not be so full of myself, but it’s hard to be still and not be thinking or talking. Being noticed feels like being loved… Well, almost, but not really. Being noticed brings you notoriety, being loved is much better. Love is about being cared about or even cared for. Not because of us but in spite of us.

Father,

Sit with me and let me listen. I want to do the talking, but I need to listen, so give me a powerful word to guide my life. Let Your Word and Your Word alone be the source for my life and let nothing prevent it from getting to me or from perfecting me daily.

Thank You sweet Jesus!!!!

The Hand of Forgiveness

Forgiveness

This week  I’ll be taking some time off, so I’m posting some old prayers from my Mail Chimp Days. Hope you won’t mind?

Luke 6:37

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Forgiveness. Who would think at first glance, how powerful it is? To restore a universe gone mad, you would expect to need legions of angel armies, or massive solar storms unleashed on rebellious creatures, or maybe even some simple “wave of the hand” that wipes out the source of the problem in some way beyond our understanding… But “No”, a simple, seemingly weak act, offered in unselfish love, blots out the offense and gives us a fresh start. Then we might think it so simple or pure that it’s only for the Divine, some “God” thing. No again, it’s an expectation of us all. So much so, that our salvation is based largely on how well we “wipe clean” the slates of others who ask it of us. Amazingly simple solution, amazingly just, simply amazing!

Lord,

Please move in my heart and give me the faith and love and trust to set aside my selfish “wants”. My desire to be right, to be justified, to be in charge, and let me have the heart of a simple, gentle shepherd. Who traveled far from His home, Who searched out His stubborn sheep, Who fought for their lives with a simple weapon…Love. Who would believe such a thing? Forgiveness is the Key to Freedom for the Forgiver and the Forgiven. Help me be both, Lord.

Isn’t It Peculiar?

Peculiar

Exodus 23:25
New International Version (NIV)

25 Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you,

A Peculiar Blessing

Isn’t it a little peculiar
And just a tiny bit odd
We’re always glad to get the sunshine
But blame all the storms on God

We imagine He sits high on His throne
And ponders up punishment that’s due
Yet He sent us His Son, Jesus
Who gave His life for me and you

The air we breathe, the food we eat
It’s all a gift from above
We never get what we truly deserve
Instead we get mercy and love

Oh sure, we don’t all drive Mercedes
Or live in mansions grand
But we’re blessed with life
We’re created by His mighty hand

So try to pause…just once a day
And thank Him that you live
And look passed all life’s troubles and woes
To all the many blessings He gives

Father,

I know, because I have seen the life of Jesus, and all the blessings that the whole Earth receives each day from Your hand…You love us! It is not Your nature to sit and send storms and disasters to punish us. You have given us life and we must live it. If we choose to live it with You, then we can live without fear or anger. May everyone who faces trouble today, face it with You. There is no greater blessing.

Thank You!

The Straight and Narrow

Overcome

Revelation 12:11

11 They overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.

How to Overcome

Long before they ever died
They did not sit in the dark and cower
But made their battle over small things
Thus robbing the big ones of their power

Then when hard choices laid before them
The decision was already done
Their minds were made up long ago
And the battle already won

So train your mind and spirit
Train them every day
Then they will not turn to the right or left
But stay on God’s righteous way

Father,

Help us to stay upon the path to life. Let us not wander off and become lost among the glitter and allure of the world. May we become one with You so that we will not be overcome by evil but conquer it with Your truth and love.

Thank You, Lord. Amen!

Grateful for the Plan

Crescendo

Isaiah 33:15-17
New International Version (NIV)

15 Those who walk righteously
and speak what is right,
who reject gain from extortion
and keep their hands from accepting bribes,
who stop their ears against plots of murder
and shut their eyes against contemplating evil—
16 they are the ones who will dwell on the heights,
whose refuge will be the mountain fortress.
Their bread will be supplied,
and water will not fail them.
17 Your eyes will see the king in his beauty
and view a land that stretches afar.

The Maestro’s Plan

When the world seems hopeless
And God’s way you fail to understand
Do you sit and grumble
And question the wisdom of His plan

When hurricanes are swirling
And flood waters rise 8 feet tall
Do you praise Him for past blessings
Or just blame Him for it all

God’s put in place a master blueprint
Only He knows its reason or its rhyme
It’s unfolding right before our face
But just a little bit at the time

Like a mighty symphony it’s scored
With vast melodies of grace
A crescendo of love and mercy
That carries us through time and space

And we are lifted to a heavenly home
Where the music never ends
Rescued from a fate worse than death
By a Savior who calls us friends

Father,

How easy it is for our tongues to rise up in judgment, even against You. To speak as though we know what is good and evil, what is right and wrong. We are then just a slippery step away from pride, lust, coveting, envy, and every other sin. Keep us Lord from judging. From placing ourselves above You. You know what is best and You are making it unfold.

We ask Your forgiveness and mercy for judging and praise You for this amazing gift of life.  In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!

Finite and Fine

Finite

Finite

Dictionary. Com defines finite, as it pertains to mathematics, to be:
1. (of a set of elements) capable of being completely counted.
2. not infinite or infinitesimal.
3. Not zero
So, let’s see how do we all “stack up” in terms of our finite-ness.

• Can we all be completely counted?

Genesis 16:10
New Life Version (NLV)

10 The angel of the Lord said to her, “I will give you so many people in your family through the years that they will be too many to number.”

Well, there’s obviously a limit to how many of mankind there are, but God must surely intend for there to be lots of us.

• Are we “too big for our britches” or “too small to count”?

James 4:14
New Living Translation (NLT)

14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.

This should help us realize the depth, the breath, and the height of our being…we like the fog are here then gone. But wait, there’s hope…

Matthew 10:28-31
New Living Translation (NLT)

28 “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. 30 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.

What kind of hope is that you ask, “Worth more than a flock of sparrows”? Remember, it’s not how much we value a flock of sparrows, but how much God values a flock of sparrows.

• Are we worthless?

John 3:16
New Living Translation (NLT)

16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

We’re very important to God or He would not have had Jesus do what He did – to die a gruesome death on a cross. He waits with open arms for all who will repent and turn from wickedness.

So, just how finite do we seem to be? At the moment, we are certainly not much more than a mist in the morning whether we’re a pauper or a king. We are more valuable than a bunch of birds, but we don’t need to get all puffed up about our importance because we’re not. Yet we know that we are enormously loved. Loved beyond anyway we have to measure just how loved we are. So while we are not important, or valuable, we are greatly valued by the Creator of the universe…How cool and reassuring is that? I’ll take that. How about you?

Father,

Thank You for caring so much and loving us so completely. May every person come to know how valued they are.

Be Careful What You Wish For

Anticipate

1 Corinthians 16:14
New International Version (NIV)

14 Do everything in love.

Anticipate Something More

Some men sit and ponder
Always wanting something more
Can’t work their iphone six
But 7 is in the store

So they sit all day and dream
Of new things they can buy
Maybe digital televisions
6 feet wide by 4 feet high

They look at their shiny cars
Getting older every day
When a Porsche comes screaming by them
Got to be theirs some way

Then maybe a big boat
A Rolex or Jet Ski
They work so very hard
How wrong can it be

The wife has a fur coat
The kids all have their own cars
Why not buy a golf cart
Or a trip to the stars

But no matter what they buy
It will never satisfy or fulfill
They’ll be left only to anticipate
What’s worthwhile and what’s real

Life, you see is much, much more
Than what we can possess
If it’s void of  the Creator’s love
It’s just plain…worthless

Father,

Help us to see and do all things in love. To take action through the heart and to filter our deeds through its pure and crystal clear vision.

Thank You for loving us.

Lifted Up

Elevale

Mark 9:34-37
New Life Version (NLV)

34 They did not answer. They had been arguing along the road about who was the greatest. 35 Jesus sat down and called the followers to Him. He said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all. He will be the one to care for all.” 36 Jesus took a child and stood it among them. Then He took the child up in His arms and said to the followers, 37 “Whoever receives one of these little children in My name, receives Me. Whoever will receive Me, receives not Me, but Him Who sent Me.”

Elevate

Lift your eyes
Lift your voice
See what’s to see
And make a choice

Lift your spirits
Lift your hands
Be of profit
Do what you can

Lift your brother
Lift them all
Helping others
Great and small

Lift up God
Lift up praise
His name laud
For all your days

Father,

Give us hearts of servants. Help us to humble ourselves that You might lift us up, for those You elevate are elevated indeed.

Thank You, Lord!
