Stand Against the Darkness

Romans 8:37
New King James Version (NKJV)

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Some say that we are warriors,
If so, how can I win the fight?
I have no strength or weapons
And I’m scared most every night,

I’ve failed at almost everything
That I’ve set out to do,
And my sins are always showing
Like some horrible tattoo,

My speech is rather funny
And my tongue is awful slow,
How I can get you to listen
To the one thing that I know?

It’s true I am not special
But he doesn’t even care,
The god who made the heavens
Will not treat me fair,

You see, I deserve harsh judgment
For all that I have done,
But he took away my punishment
And laid it upon his son,

And that’s my only weapon
Against the evil in front of me,
I claim the grace freely given
That washes and sets me free.

Like young David, we face the giants of this world. We are scoffed at by our enemies. They laugh because we seem to be so helpless, yet we are not. We are the fiercest of warriors for we come not as ourselves, but in Your name and with Your strength. Have mercy upon them Lord for they are no match for You. Thank You for loving us in spite of our wicked selves.
