All That’s Left

Pruned

John 15:2-6
New Living Translation (NLT)

2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.

Pruned

Cut out the dead wood that holds you back
Prune every unproductive limb,
Call for the clippers sharp and swift
That will give you the necessary trim,

Snip away the hate and anguish
Cut back all the fear and doubt,
Slice off what’s been holding you back
And give light a chance to sprout,

There’s much we all could do without,
There’s much we should cut away,
Don’t hold on to things that hold you back
But get free of them today,

Pride and lust and greediness
Envy, slough, and lies,
These are things that have us walk
In ways that are most unwise,

Trim back your hearts with speediness,
Don’t wait for one more day,
Harvest time is nearly here
And judgment will not delay.

Father,

You bless us by cutting from us those things that lead us astray, that are not productive, or that are harmful. May we always welcome Your tending of our garden. You are the Master Gardener. Thank You!

  1. Yes! Be bold! Be ruthless with that trash!
~whimper~ Pruning hurts a lot, and then we mourn what we’ve lost. Oh, let us turn to Jesus and embrace all that He has for us! Let Him heal our wounds with His truth and love.
