New Living Translation (NLT)
20 “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.
My father used to take me out
To a playground not far from home,
He’d request that I would stay real close
But I always liked to roam,
I’d run ahead and try to hide
Or I’d just sit and make a face,
I often wonder why he didn’t leave me
But he’d always smile and keep my pace,
Often times he would sit and watch
But he was never out of sight,
And though I thought myself quite tough,
He was always there to help me win my fights,
But now he’s gone and the playground’s changed,
It’s not nearly as much fun anymore,
But I know he waits at the celestial gate
So we can play some more.
