Rest in Peace

Sweet Slumber

Isaiah 26:19
New Living Translation (NLT)

19 But those who die in the Lord will live;
their bodies will rise again!
Those who sleep in the earth
will rise up and sing for joy!
For your life-giving light will fall like dew
on your people in the place of the dead!

Sweet Slumber

Sweet slumber come and rescue me,
Grant me rest and set me free,

Set me free from trials and pain,
May only love and peace remain,

There are no words that can express,
What sleep can do to ease our stress,

How well we feel when we arise
And wipe the darkness from our eyes,

The only thing that’s better yet
Is to awake from death with no regret,

Thank you, Lord for all you’ve done,
I rest in peace and await the son.

  1. Ps 4.8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
I love your poem because it deals with earthly sleep as well as eternal rest. I have a relative dealing with eternity. I plan to print this out for her, and read it to her. She is struggling, and I pray she allows God’s peace to come in through this.
