The Price of Freedom

Galatians 5:1
New International Version (NIV)
Freedom in Christ

5 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Today as you stand cheering
As the fireworks light the sky,
Take time to pause and ponder
At the tear in many a mother’s eye,

A tear she shed for freedom,
A tear she could not contain,
A tear shed for her children
So that liberty might remain,

They fought in lands both far and wide
With names she scare could say,
And so she made a sacred vow
To go and visit their grave one day,

But she is growing older now
And the loss has taken a dreadful toll,
That’s her part of freedom’s price
Rarely seen and seldom told,

So pause today for just a moment
As our flag still waves high above,
And give thanks for all our freedom
Bought by blood and a mother’s love.

Please keep Your hand upon those who serve and those of us who enjoy freedom. Amen!
