New Living Translation (NLT)
22 I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. 24 The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory. 25 Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there. 26 And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city. 27 Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Does your life seem like an eddy?
Does it move counter to the flow?
Does it feel like you’re always fighting
With everyone and everywhere you go?
And no matter how very hard you try,
No matter what you seem to do,
Does there always seem to be someone
Who says they’re so disappointed in you?
And this constant, bitter conflict
Does it reap a vicious consequence?
Does It tear you down bit by bit
And make you bow and scrap and wince?
Until one day you face a choice,
Either run away or fight?
The victim turns aggressor
Like a lightning strike at night,
But before you let it go that far
There’s something you should heed,
Something that you might not have heard,
The only thing you really need,
The Lord above is waiting
With arms stretched wide apart,
There is no condemnation,
No malice in his heart,
So do not sweat the small stuff,
Do not let it get you down,
The only thing that really matters
Is that in the Book of Life you’re found.
