It Was Gone!

Forest

Job 12:7-10
New Living Translation (NLT)

7 “Just ask the animals, and they will teach you.
Ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you.
8 Speak to the earth, and it will instruct you.
Let the fish in the sea speak to you.
9 For they all know
that my disaster has come from the hand of the Lord.
10 For the life of every living thing is in his hand,
and the breath of every human being.

Chasing the Dream

I do not think we know the forest
Although we travel it each day,
It’s not that we don’t see it
We just don’t see it in the proper way,

We glance at it and see the wildlife
And think that they are in the way,
Or we size up the stature of the tallest trees
And imagine lumber trucks hauling them away,

We look at all the brooks and streams
And see reservoirs with country clubs,
Then roads for getting in and out
Of pricey homes with lawns and shrubs,

Perhaps if we would sit each day
And listen to the wind among the leaves,
While giving heed to ancient songs,
Our hearts might somehow believe

That all this stuff we’re striving for
“Ain’t really worth a hoot!”
Even if we gain some useless dream
But give our Earth the final boot.

Father,

We build our lives on useless dreams of big houses, shiny cars, and deadly pride. Please help us to turn loose of this world and gain all we could dream of. You are our hope and our desire. Within You is all we will ever need. Thank You for loving us!
