In the Middle of the Rush

Psalm 39:6
New International Version (NIV)

6 “Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom;
in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth
without knowing whose it will finally be.

Somewhere in between,
We dwell at such a pace,
We lose ourselves in time,
We lose ourselves in space,

There are so many things
That led us far astray,
We wander in a maze of life
And often lose our way,

We lose our hope,
We lose our trust,
Then we run the race
In complete disgust,

If we could but stop
And take a break,
We might find strength
And this mad race forsake,

But the sirens call
And we must dance,
Unless on a new cadence
We take a chance,

And hear a call
From up above,
“Be slow to run”
“But rush to love”

Call to us from on high that we might hear Your voice and stop the madness. Thank You!
