Churning

Churn

Philippians 3:13-14
New Living Translation (NLT)

13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Better to Live with the Churning We Know

My mind won’t let me rest
As I churn in secret fire
Held by past regrets
That fill me with their ire

Though I lie upon my silky bed
betwixt sunset and the dawn
My tortured mind will not cease
These hellish nightmares that it spawns

Could I but cause it to stop
For one moment of precious time
I would close my eyes and shut out the world
And fall fast in sleep sublime

But the agitation will not end
It’s been going on since I was born
I guess if it ever did go away
I’d be even sadder and more forlorn

Father,

You are our hope. In You is found the greatest of prizes. We turn from the past and set our eyes upon only You.
