Luke 19:10
New Living Translation (NLT)

10 For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Astonished by His Presence

Walking amid the drab and the dreary,
Skies all grey,
Sun is bleary,

Senses unaware as all seems dull,
Aroma is rare,
Sounds in a lull,

Speech is useless when no one cares,
Ears are deaf,
Minds unaware,

What a shock then to the mortal soul!
As the divine draws near,
And love unfolds.

Thank You for Jesus! A life so astonishing as to change the whole world! May it never cease to amaze us!

2 Timothy 3:2-5
New Living Translation (NLT)

2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

Total Control

I’ll get my way no matter what
I know how to handle you,
I’ll throw a screaming tantrum
Until you come over to my point of view,

I’ve done it all of my life,
I’m the master of manipulation,
I can get you to do what I want
No matter what’s the situation,

I might have to scream or maybe just cry,
Might make you feel it’s your fault,
Might have to play the victim
Or hit you with a verbal assault,

It won’t really matter; I’ll do what I must,
You see, I really just like to watch you cower,
It’s never been about one darn thing
Except knowing that I have the power.

We long to have our way. We seek after power we should not possess. Forgive us and change our hearts so that we long only to do Your will, in Your way. It is the only way. Thank You, Lord!

A River Runs Through Them

Mark 16:17-18
New Living Translation (NLT)

17 These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. 18 They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.

Raging, Rushing Rivulet of Love

Lord let Your Spirit wash over us,
Let it hit us like some mighty wall,
We pray it’s not just a rivulet
But a cleansing, healing waterfall,

Maybe we’ll be blessed with a gifting,
Signs and wonders that we can share,
It will pour over all who are watching
Brought on by a sweet and holy prayer,

And those who are held in bondage
Will suddenly be healed of it all,
The Spirit is mighty to rescue
Renewing the great and the small,

Our Savior promised we could do it
And things even greater by far,
We only need ask our heavenly Father
In the name of Him who bore the nail scars,

Heaven’s windows will quickly open
To those who make their request above,
Then use what they have been given
To be a witness to His unending love.

Who Takes Note of You?

1 Corinthians 1:26-31
New Living Translation (NLT)

26 Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. 27 Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God. 30 God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. 31 Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”

“Not Able” To Notable

The world will cast its lot
On whether we’re worthy or not,
Perhaps we’re one of the chosen
Or maybe we’re set for demotion,

Maybe we’ll walk in the sun
And be blessed with a life full of fun,
Or then we might just stumble along
And feel there’s nowhere that we belong,

To be notable is such a great blessing,
All that you do seems so impressing,
But when you’re cursed and not able,
Gaining accolades is just a cruel fable,

But take heart and never have doubt
For the Lord works with those who are without,
Like David who killed Goliath with a stone
And since then he always been known,

So let go of this crazy old world
And the labels it so often hurls,
There’s no one you need to impress
Being loved from above is our total success.

You alone are able. You alone are worthy of fame. We thank You for loving us and in doing so, make us infinitely notable.

Elaborate On That, Please!

Matthew 6:19-21
New Living Translation (NLT)

19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Elaborate Storehouse

I’d like to elaborate
And give you full details,
On what is succeeding
And what seems to fail,

You can store up your money
And even have a big blast,
But if you have a lot of bills
Then your money will not last,

You can work out like crazy
And have muscles galore,
But if you have a serious illness
You’ll be laid out on the floor,

You can hide out like a hermit
Never opening your door,
But loneliness and pain
Will still find you for sure,

And don’t think that an arsenal
Can keep you safe and sound,
Cause mayhem and murder
Can always be found,

So you better store up your treasure
In a bank that’s up on high,
That’s where mercy and love live
And they’ll help you get by,

Nothing else in this dark world
Will bring you one moment of glee,
So quit searching for other answers
And grab hold of what sets free

©2018 by William Pierce

Please bless us with our heart’s desire and store them up in a safe place. We long for Your presence and seek it daily. Thank You, Lord!

The Windows of Heaven

Proverbs 19:17
New Living Translation (NLT)

17 If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—
and he will repay you!

Open Up

Open up your hearts
And feel your brother’s pain
Open up your hands
And bestow without expecting gain

Open up your minds
To learn about his plight
Open up your eyes
And keep him in your sight

Open up your life
And follow in His way
Everything you’ve done and said
He will most certainly repay

Please help us to bestow mercy and forgiveness on those who need it most. Let Your light shine through us and fill the Earth. May we light candles in every corner of the darkness.

When I Don’t Even Know What I Need

Ephesians 5:17
Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

17 Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

Fast and Vague

I pulled up to the fast food window
And waited my turn to speak
But what I heard was so very vague
It sounded much like Greek

It was kind of muffled
Like someone locked inside a can
Or maybe like their mouth
Was full of rocks and sand

It sure was hard to understand
So I simply shouted out what I desired
“I’d like a Biggie burger with Freakie fries”
“And I got a coupon if it’s not expired”

Well, you’d think I’d asked them for the moon
From the commotion that I heard
Two of them were talking now
But I still could not understand a single word

So I decided to tell them once again
As if that would help to clear the air

I leaned out of the window
So I might hear a little better
When a girl came out the backdoor
With a manager’s badge pinned on her sweater

“Sir,” she said with a great big smile
“Please pull on through to the other side”
“Your order’s waiting there for you”
And with that she turned and went back inside

Well, I pulled around to the pickup window
And the whole crew was waiting with a grin
They giggled as they handed me the sack
And said, “Please won’t you come again!”

And they wouldn’t take a single dime
Though I offered once or twice
They kept saying something about
The fun they had “Would more than suffice”

So I took my burger back home with me
And popped a Freakie Fry
When all of a sudden I realized
It was a drink I did not buy

So I’m on the way back to try again
I hope a “Big Gulp” they can provide
But I won’t be speaking to that crazy machine
Cause from now on I’ll go inside

Help us communicate Your word and Your will. May we be blessed with the patience necessary to be a blessing to everyone we encounter. Thank You, Lord for supplying our every need, even when we can’t tell you what they are.

Will That be a Debit or a Credit?

Philippians 2:14-16
New Living Translation (NLT)

14 Do everything without complaining and arguing, 15 so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. 16 Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless.

Watch What You Partake

We are what we eat
Or that’s what they say,
Perhaps we should be careful
What we ingest today,

There’s lots of things out there
That we might imbibe,
That are not fit
For the ear or the eye,

They’ll lead you down paths
That wind through dark places,
That rob you of virtue
And leave you with sin’s wages,

So be careful to read
What’s on the menu,
It might seem tasty
Until the check comes due

We are faced with many choices in this life. Today and every day be with us all and show us what we should be partaking of in every area of life. You are our hope and our strength. Thank you!

Forged by … a Toaster?

Hebrews 4:12
New International Version (NIV)

12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

It’s like a sissy hammer,
This thing that’s made of wood,
It’s made for hitting something
Just not as hard as you could,

Instead of using brute force,
We coax it into place,
We do not want to dent it
Or do damage to its face,

Give me a big ol’ ball peen,
Then quickly step aside,
For I’ll be making changes
That need to be applied,

It’s swifter and it’s kinder
Just to go on and end the pain,
There is no reason to delay
And nothing much to gain,

So think it over while you can
And try not to delay,
When you’re using just a mallet
Most things won’t obey

©2018 by William Pierce

Heat us up and place us in Your forge. Place us upon Your anvil and change us with Your hammer sure and mighty. May we be changed into silver and gold. Precious in Your sight and worthy for Your service.

Fessing Up!

2 Corinthians 5:20-21
New Living Translation (NLT)

20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

To be completely authentic
With unquestioning truth
Being undoubtedly accurate
And honest to boot

You have to be cereal
You have to be square
You have to give room
And you have to share

So if you want to be real
Wanna be straight-up
You don’t have to be ugly
But you have to fess-up

Don’t try to be perfect
It won’t stand up in court
We’re all getting F’s
On our final reports

But we all get a bonus
A question profound
Answer correctly
And our lives turn around

So if you want to be real
Wanna be straight-up
You don’t have to be ugly
But you have to fess-up

So don’t put it off
You might miss your one chance
You don’t have to be a giant
But you just have to take a stance

Then we’ll be just as authentic
As him who never knew sin
Who gave up his life
So the kingdom could come in

So if you want to be real
Wanna be straight-up
You don’t have to be ugly
But you have to fess-up
