Deceived by Our Weave

Matthew 5:37
New Living Translation (NLT)

37 Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one.

Dressed to Thrill

What makes up our very fabric?
What is our warp and weft?
If you stripped us of our clothing,
Would anything be left?

We all choose to expose ourselves
In costumes that lift us high,
That make us seem like heroes
When we are really shy,

How different would the world operate?
If we all wore a fabric bold and true,
That showed just what we were like
And our honest point-of-view,

So let your yes be yes and your no be no,
Is most excellent advice,
It’s the selvage that holds it all together,
And dresses us up very nice

We are full of arrogance and pride. We build ourselves up in every situation or we wear false humility to gain sympathy from the crowds. Help us to “tell the truth” simply and boldly so that we become known as Your children speaking the truth.
