Inconsequential Lecturing

Lecture

Hebrews 1:1-3
New Living Translation (NLT)

Jesus Christ Is God’s Son

1 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. 2 And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. 3 The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.

The Good Word

The lecture hall is full now,
All await to hear the speech,
Will the speaker move us?
Will the message teach?

Will it somehow change us?
Will we even care?
In a year or so from now,
Will we remember they were there?

So many offer up their thoughts,
At the mere dropping of the hat,
With little thought to what they say,
Even less to its impact,

They tell us in no uncertain terms,
What they perceive the truth to be,
Then they turn and run away,
And leave the consequences to you and me,

There was a word however,
That came down from high above,
It lived and dwelt among us,
And taught us of pure love,

And now it lives inside us,
If we will but believe,
It promises to guide us,
And never ever leave,

So listen to its lecture,
This word that never fails,
Its message will enliven,
Its truth always prevail

Father,

Thank You for sending Jesus. He is Your Word and the full expression of Your love. May we always be within His presence.
