James 4:13-15
New Living Translation (NLT)
13 Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” 14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15 What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”
Bewitched, Bewildered, and Agile
We are so very agile
As we’re heading out our door
We communicate as we travel
With the latest gadgets from the store
We’ve got cell phones and laptops
And Apple Cardiios to check our heart
While the GPS is quickly plotting
Our every move from where we start
We can check on mom and pop
As we’re heading into work
And be sure that our investments
Did not tank and go berserk
We can plan to go to lunch
With a friend we haven’t seen
Oh! And does the dentist have an opening
For a cleaning in between
How’s the weather for this evening
Will it interfere with the plan
Can we load our stuff in the pickup
Or will we need the big sedan
But most days we seem so busy
In our agile lifestyle sort of way
That the one thing we should be doing
Gets put off for another day
When God above will meet us
And hear our plaintive cry
We often hit the hold button
And tell Him to leave a reply
I guess we think He understands
We have so much to do
Perhaps He needs a mobile app
To get through to me and you

Father,
We live our lives as if in a whirlwind; help us to slow down and listen, to meet with You early in the day and late in the evening. Let us not put You off as though You were a genie in a bottle, assigned to grant our wishes. You are God and there is no other. You are our only hope. Be with us always. Thank You!

This poem is so appropriate in the times we are living in. For everything there is an app, people have stopped sharing emotions personally with each other and prefer to send an emoji.

Thank you for reading. I appreciate your comments. It seems that we’re all “out of time”. We’re rushing here and there all the time. We appear to miss out on much of what’s important. If we didn’t have our devices we would be lost.

Yes I always think back to those device-free-days where we could still meet our friends at the right place at the right time.

Me too. But these days are not all bad as long as we just don’t let lost in all the technology. just have to remember what’s important.
Thanks again for reading.
