Let the Listening Begin

Isaiah 1:18-20
New Living Translation (NLT)

18 “Come now, let’s settle this,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.
19 If you will only obey me,
you will have plenty to eat.
20 But if you turn away and refuse to listen,
you will be devoured by the sword of your enemies.
I, the Lord, have spoken!”

Conversation Upended

The exchange of ideas
As informal as it might be
You tell me about you
And I tell you about me

We can talk about the weather
Or subjects varied and galore
Just not religion or politics
Or the conversation ends for sure

But here’s a thought that hits me hard
Would my time be better spent
If I would just shut my mouth
And listened with as much intent

Could it be true, though hard to bear
That someone else might know more than me
And if I just gave them half a chance
The truth they’d help me see

And truer still than even that
If I with reverend heart would hear
The Voice of God might come my way
And make everything quite clear

You and You alone know all things. Help me to set aside my pride and listen. Help me to hear Your voice.

Thank You!
