I’ll be away for a few days. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and are looking forward to the new year, but if not, I thought I would share this poem I wrote several years ago. Sometimes despite all the tinsel and glitz this can be a hard time for some people. I wrote this during such a period.
Merry Christmas to all… cherish the gift!
New Living Translation (NLT)
8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
Can Christmas be lost?
Can troubles arise
And crush the spirit,
Or so damage the heart
That salvation will be stillborn?
It is much more likely
That Christmas would be forgotten
Amid the bright lights
And the fancy presents.
It is extravagance that blinds,
So let us give thanks!
Let us be glad
That trouble visits us this season.
Let us count our blessings,
For that is the true essence of Christmas,
For while we were yet in trouble
Our Christmas was delivered in a manger
And given to us upon that Hill.
We can never lose it,
We can only forget to unwrap it and rejoice.

Thank You for Christmas. Thank You for Your gift of incomparable love. No matter what troubles we face, no matter what darkness looms before us, no matters how hopeless things might seem, help us to cherish Christmas and never fail to open it every day.
