The Guide

Psalm 5:7-8
New Living Translation (NLT)

7 Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house;
I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.
8 Lead me in the right path, O Lord,
or my enemies will conquer me.
Make your way plain for me to follow.

More Than a Compass

Such a simple magnetic device
That spins around with ease
That always knows its way to north
And shows it in degrees

But did you know or suspect
That north is not always north
And depending on just where you are
Declination must be brought forth

Oh! Were it so quick and easy
To find our way through life
Divining our true course each day
To avoid both pain and strife

But since we cannot know for sure
Our path throughout our days
We had better pick a Guide
That can take us through the maze

One who sees when we are blind
And hears when we are deaf
That will not leave us to the wolves
Who defends us, as though Himself

A Guide who’s pure and true
Sent to us from far away
Who fought the roaring lion for us
And gave His life that day

He sits on high, in heaven now
Yet still He leads us on
So take hold the mighty Shepherd’s hand
Before your chance is gone

He calls to you with tender voice
His song of life to hear
There is no other path to take
No other Guide so dear

Thank You for sending Jesus to be our guide, our “true” North when we are lost in the darkness. Help us to hold on to His nail-scarred hand so He may bring us Home.
