Equipped for the Dance

Dancing

Psalm 149:3-4
New Living Translation (NLT)

3 Praise his name with dancing,
accompanied by tambourine and harp.
4 For the Lord delights in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory.

Dancing in My Dreams

Oh! Wouldn’t I be so very cool
Wouldn’t I be a real standout
If I could be terpsichorean
And go strutting my stuff all about

I’d get out there on the dance floor
And be spinning the ladies around
Making them feel like a princess
As I lifted them high off the ground

I’d hold them so close in my strong arms
And smile an endearing smile
While peering deep in their blue eyes
We’d glide across the floor all the while

But there is a problem I have to admit
Right there where the floor and I meet
Despite all of my fervent dancing desire
I was born without rhythm and two left feet

So I’ll just have to be satisfied with sitting
With my imagination running full speed
Cause just wanting something badly
Won’t give you the skill that you need

And if I took to the dance floor
It might be quite dangerous indeed
I’d probably step on their instep
And not have the insurance I’d need

And then not only would I be a big klutz
But more than likely I would probably be dead
Having stepped on so many dainty toes
They would line up to hit me in the head

Father,

Here among the world I often feel ill-equipped, I don’t work hard enough, or fast enough. I’m not smart enough or talented enough. There just doesn’t seem to be enough of me to be enough, but with You I am blessed. You equip those You call to do all that You ask. You go before me knocking down walls and come behind me to keep me from stumbling. Mighty is the hand that is upon me. Thank You, Lord!
