The Siren Song

Matthew 23:27
New Living Translation (NLT)

27 “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people’s bones and all sorts of impurity.

Bring Me Along

Each day I’ve committed the greatest fraud
Carried away by its sensual call
Giving ear to the world’s praise and applause

How weak I’d become, how easy I’d fall
Ensnared by trappings they would emit
Desiring not to think myself so small

Like a drug addiction I’d like to quit
But praise just like poison rolled from their lips
Making me do things I’d like to forget

Somehow I must get from this sinking ship
Safe from the roar of sultry sirens’ songs
To where my thirsty soul can come to grips

So please hear my prayer Lord, bring me along
Away from this madness, away from harm
Forever in heaven where I belong
