One in a Hundred

Luke 15:1-7
New Living Translation (NLT)

Parable of the Lost Sheep

15 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2 This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them! 3 So Jesus told them this story: 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6 When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!

Except for Him

Oh my! I am quite a fellow
A cut above the rest
If you got to meet me
You would think me the very best

Strong and lean, standing tall
Full of humor and a smile
Excelling at everything
I am the favorite child

Of course, like most folks
You’ll find I have a fatal flaw
I hate to admit it
But I’m the biggest liar you ever saw

I’m not nearly as golden
As at first it might appear
Just listen to my parents
And the stories you will hear

And while I’m not so very short
I’m really not that tall
And turns out my life seems like a joke
It’s not too funny at all

Then there are those things
I have left undone
And those things
That I never should have begun

So I’m really not too special
In fact, I’m lost as I can be
Except for one incredible thing
You see, “Jesus died for me”

I know, that might sound a bit conceited
In light of all He’s done
But I’m sure He’d still have come for me
If I had been the only one

Today and every day I praise You and give thanks for You sending Jesus. What an amazing shepherd! Help me each day to be more like Him and less like this world so that I might become exceptional.

Thank You, Lord!
