2 Timothy 3:1-5
New Living Translation (NLT)
The Dangers of the Last Days
3 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
Just a Little off the Top
I sat down in the barber’s chair
Just the other day
And asked about the gray in my hair
And if he could take it away
Then he asked, why do that
It’s a sign of great respect
You’ve lived through, who knows what
And that’s what you should expect
Well, perhaps that’s true, I replied
I have learned a thing or two
But in this world where we reside
Older opinions are taboo
No one thinks we know a thing
We’re only in their way
And though there’s much that we can bring
At the table we cannot play
We worked real hard to grow our wealth
And kept our debt real low
Tried to live the way that kept our health
And in the Lord we’d grow
But they say, live in this moment
To experience all that you can
You won’t need a retirement
If you live from the government’s hand
What do you have after all you have done
And all those wars that you fought
You’ve only just begun
To pay for all that we’ve bought
So go ahead and wash away that gray
And give me a proper buzz cut too
I’m gonna start to live the superficial way
And maybe get what I am due

Father,
In this world there are many competing points of view, keep us all for being blind to the feelings and needs of others. May we learn to love and respect ourselves and our planet. May we seek after what is good and true for all mankind. May we always find that You are with us.
Thank You, Lord.
