The Hand of Forgiveness

This week  I’ll be taking some time off, so I’m posting some old prayers from my Mail Chimp Days. Hope you won’t mind?

Luke 6:37

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Forgiveness. Who would think at first glance, how powerful it is? To restore a universe gone mad, you would expect to need legions of angel armies, or massive solar storms unleashed on rebellious creatures, or maybe even some simple “wave of the hand” that wipes out the source of the problem in some way beyond our understanding… But “No”, a simple, seemingly weak act, offered in unselfish love, blots out the offense and gives us a fresh start. Then we might think it so simple or pure that it’s only for the Divine, some “God” thing. No again, it’s an expectation of us all. So much so, that our salvation is based largely on how well we “wipe clean” the slates of others who ask it of us. Amazingly simple solution, amazingly just, simply amazing!

Please move in my heart and give me the faith and love and trust to set aside my selfish “wants”. My desire to be right, to be justified, to be in charge, and let me have the heart of a simple, gentle shepherd. Who traveled far from His home, Who searched out His stubborn sheep, Who fought for their lives with a simple weapon…Love. Who would believe such a thing? Forgiveness is the Key to Freedom for the Forgiver and the Forgiven. Help me be both, Lord.
