1 Samuel 2:7-8
New Living Translation (NLT)
7 The Lord makes some poor and others rich;
he brings some down and lifts others up.
8 He lifts the poor from the dust
and the needy from the garbage dump.
He sets them among princes,
placing them in seats of honor.
For all the earth is the Lord’s,
and he has set the world in order.
Where Sympathy Does Not Reside
Well, one day we all need some sympathy
Whether with a coke or maybe some tea
The world gives us all of a slap to the head
And advice that’s not usually free
What is the reason and what is the rhyme
For this predicament you find yourself in
You must have either been cursed from above
Or just born under the penalty of sin
Or maybe the problem is not a problem at all
But just that you did not try
Perhaps if you stood on your own two feet
You’d have your own slice of the pie
Well, here is a twenty, now let me pass by
I’m really much too important to stay
So with Ray Bans on and Starbucks in hand
I’m off having done my good deed for today
Woe to the man who is given so much
But has not an ounce of compassion inside
His pride will drag him to darkness below
Where he’ll find that sympathy does not reside

Today grant me a heart filled with compassion for I too will one day need sympathy. One day I will bow before the judgment seat and be in great need. Have mercy on me now and change my heart.
Thank You, Lord!
