New Living Translation (NLT)
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
The Worry Wart
Had a tiny spot today
That popped up on my toe
I tried my best find a way
That I could make it go
I sprayed it with some alcohol
Then scrubbed it with a rag
And painted on some olive oil
And covered it with a bag
I tried again with medicine
And soaked it in a pot
The water made it softer
But go away, it would not
Then I started worrying
Which made me feel quite ill
Then there was no sleeping
So I took a little pill
This went on for days and days
And my heart began to race
The doctor said I must find a way
To slow down my rapid pace
So I decided I would watch the news
And try to rest my mind
But soon I found I had the blues
When hate was all that I could find
I could not seem to stop my thoughts
This worry would not leave my side
So I went downtown and a gun I bought
And pondered suicide
I sat at home and pulled off my shoes
My feet propped upon the chair
And was about to end all my blues
When I noticed, it was not there
The spot was gone! How could that be?
That’s what started this whole thing!
I let my worry get the best of me
And this is what it always brings.
