Take It Away

Romans 6:1
New International Version (NIV)

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ

6 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?

Take My “S” Away

Who would have thought just what is at stake
When suddenly the “s” you decide you will take

A bird on the wing that flies like a swallow
Becomes a fat pig that lives in a wallow

With it you’re sure of yourself and can shun
Without it you’re always fighting like a hun

You can exercise daily and be hot enough to sear
Then suddenly you’re flabby and can’t get anyone’s ear

You might think you’re tiny and ever so small
Then find yourself running all over the mall

You might be real mad, full of scoff and scorn
Only to find you’re at the state fair roasting some corn

Off of an oak tree might fall a big stick
And when you wake up you were bitten by a tick

In the spring the bees come and start a big swarm
While in the winter we’re all trying just to stay warm

Now this is just meant to make us all smile
But let’s go a little further, He said go the extra mile

Some will ignore the Word that He spoke
They give no respect and fun they will poke

And though He always, takes up their slack
They never thank Him for being what they lack

So sweet Lord please don’t let me be so shallow
Help me lose the “s” in my life and learn how to hallow

We play with words each day as writers, but let us not play with Your Word or Your Way, for Yours is the only Way to salvation. Thank You for Your eternal patience and Your infinite grace and mercy. Be with all who read this prayer may they be blessed by Your presence. Heal all who need healing, feed all who need feeding, and move in the hearts of all mankind because we need You.

Thank You, Lord. Amen!
