New International Version (NIV)
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.
The Quill Writes
It holds the power of life and limb
Of judgment and decree
A fills up justice to the brim
A man is guilty or set free
It writes a word the heart to thrill
With sadness or pure joy
The poet’s thoughts, it will spill
On paper to ponder and enjoy
It writes the bonds of wedding bliss
A couple’s covenant great
It’s sealed at end with loving kiss
Let no man try to separate
It writes the mighty Word of God
From Sinai until today
A holy writ worthy to applaud
To show us all the way
And a final ending comes to every life
What will be, the flourish of the His quill?
Will we be written in the Book of Life
Or rest on death’s eternal hill
