The Illusion of Flight

Isaiah 40:31
New International Version (NIV)

31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

True Flight

Let me break free,
Turn loose this world
And soar!
Not to merely fly,
But to walk among the needy
And offer my bread.
To listen and hear the lonely
And share my time.
To see the sick,
And ease their pain.
The wings of His angels take flight,
And never leave the ground.

Help us to realize what true flight really is. To understand that it is not soaring on the wind, but descending into service. That is the essence of Your heart. That is the pleasure of Your mind. That is the miracle of Your love.

Thank You, Lord for eyes that see. Amen.
