Heavenly Attire

Natty dresser

Isaiah 61:10
New International Version (NIV)

10 I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Hans Christian Anderson’s, The Emperor’s New Clothes, tells a tale of a ruler who is convinced by two tailors that they will make him a new suit of clothes that will be invisible to all except those smart enough and wise enough to see them. As he parades around naked, all of his subjects say his clothes are really natty (so he won’t throw them in a dungeon), except a small boy, who cries out, “But he’s not wearing anything!”

Father,

Be with us all today and give us wisdom. The world cries to us to “fit in”, “be like this or that”, “come this way”, and all the while we are walking farther away from Your true treasure. Please move within us changing us from what is around us and clothe us in attire fit for heaven.

We ask it in the name of Him who has the power to dress us in robes of righteousness. Amen!
